Professor Wellington Otieno
Wellington Otieno is a senior Kenyan scientist with a doctoral degree from the University of California, Berkeley, USA. He is an internationally recognized scientist with over 22 years experience in research, project planning, policy analysis and capacity building. He took a Postdoctoral Research at Stanford University, USA before taking up a formal research scientist position at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) in Nairobi, Kenya. He was a Professor of Biological Sciences at Maseno University before taking up the position of the Executive Director of Centre for Research and Technology Development (RESTECH). Prof. Otieno has wide management experience and has been a consultant for various international agencies and government institutions. He has been involved in the design and implementation of several programs in Agriculture and Rural Development in Africa. Prof. Otieno is also a member of many local and International organizations and standing committees including: Kenya Institute of Food Science and Technology, Association of Eastern, Central and Southern Africa Food Science and Technology, American Society of Entomologists, Invertebrate Pathology and Microbial Control and African Association of Agricultural Economists. He has authored several books and other publications in the field of agriculture, natural resources, nutrition and rural development and has also published widely in many refereed Journals.
